For this assignment, I chose the subject of organic farming. Before into the detail, it should be defined so it can be discussed and so break down easily. According to the result of the google search, defining "Organic" Organic farming is a method of crop and livestock production that involves much more than choosing not to use pesticides, fertilizers, genetically modified organisms, antibiotics, and growth hormones. Organic farming also considered one of the sustainable ways of food production and concept.
The human population is tremendously increased ever before and thoughtless developments bring us countless problems such as water pollution, climate change, extinction of species, soil pollution, gas emission, etc. Since the industrial revolution, human beings are slowly but steadily contaminate and destroyed the planet which ultimately comes back to us, as one of the consequences from it, people of modern society have a lot of health issues such as allergies and chronic diseases, these are observed relatively high in the Western world than Asia, for a great example for this that I haven't seen that many people who have allergies in my country which South Korea, maybe a few of them I met, whereas, in Canada, everyone has one, I may exaggerate it but unfortunately it likely to be true.
The foods that we eat is the connection between us and earth, so we have to look at it very carefully and have to put our effort into it, one of those efforts is the organic farming system, it might have other aspects such as profits but I would focus on its concept and how the system works primarily. The first step of organic farming is that a farmer has to be certified by the Canadian Organic Standards under Canada's organic product regulations which ensuring the organic product of integrity from farm to table. In Ontario, Canada, aspiring organic farmers are can be certified by third-party certification bodies that approved by the Canadian food inspection agency(CFIA), the regulation for the transition of none organic farmers to organic farmers seems a quite strict process, candidates need three years to be qualified. The certified products are finally going to retail to meet potential customers that range from big retail to small farmer's market.
